Chad Babiuk practices civil and commercial dispute resolution and advocacy. He represents individual and corporate clients in disputes arising from a broad range of commercial transactions, in product liability and professional negligence claims, and in regulatory investigations or other public law litigation. Mr. Babiuk is also well known for his experience in employment, defamation and privacy law.
Background
Mr. Babiuk attended the University of Calgary for undergraduate and graduate studies before earning his law degree in 2005. He joined Code Hunter in 2006 and became a partner of the firm in 2012. Mr. Babiuk has appeared as trial or appeal counsel before superior courts in several provincial jurisdictions and the Federal Court of Canada, before various administrative boards and tribunals including the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board, the Alberta Surface Rights Board, the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (SDRCC) and in professional discipline, municipal planning and development matters. Mr. Babiuk also has considerable experience in the conduct of private arbitration, mediation and other alternative dispute resolution processes.
Community Service
Mr. Babiuk serves as an advising lawyer and is an alumnus of the Board of Directors of Student Legal Assistance, a non-profit charity that offers pro bono legal services through the volunteer efforts of law students at the University of Calgary. He is also a volunteer instructor with the Legal Education Society of Alberta, and teaches the oral advocacy component of Alberta’s bar admission course and practicum (CPLED).
Mr. Babiuk is an active volunteer with Hockey Calgary, serving as a minor hockey coach and member of Hockey Calgary’s Special Discipline and Appeals Committee.
