Katherine Reiffenstein earned a B.A. “with distinction” in 1997 from the University of Alberta, which included studies at Aalborg University in Denmark. In 2000, she received her law degree from the University of Victoria, and thereafter commenced Articles of Clerkship with the Court of Queen’s Bench and Court of Appeal of Alberta. She completed her articles at a national law firm and was admitted to the Alberta bar in 2001.
Ms. Reiffenstein has a general civil litigation practice. She has represented clients in a wide variety of matters including commercial litigation, product liability cases, natural resources matters, public and administrative law, real estate disputes and regulatory hearings. She has appeared before the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board, all levels of court in Alberta and the Federal Court of Canada.
Ms. Reiffenstein has volunteered since 2002 for Calgary Legal Guidance’s walk-in legal advice clinic. She has served as an instructor for the Alberta bar admission course. Her past volunteer commitments include acting as Chair of the Board of Directors of Closer to Home, a local children’s services agency, and as Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Leave No Trace Canada, a national environmental advocacy group.
